Digital Marketing Consultant and Manager:
Elvis Blue
August – November 2013

 

One of the biggest ways I used social media to build the Elvis Blue brand was by getting closer to his fans. Using Twitter and Facebook gave this star the chance to talk to his fans in a relatively safe environment (although I did all the talking). Since people love "talking to" their favorite stars, this endears celebrities to their adoring hoards even more.

 

I advised Elvis Blue on digital marketing, platform selection, multi-channel management and digital strategy to improve customer acquisition, conversion and retention rates. This included social media - management, monitoring, strategy and content development. I also managed his reputation throughout all social media platforms, monitoring complaints (and compliments) and attending to his fans’ needs of interactionAreas of expertise:Facebook,Twitter, and YouTube.Focusing in the release of his new Afrikaans Album, I drove the correct social media platforms with a great campaign to increase conversions (the goal was to get his fans to download his cd on iTunes). I developed a social media strategy with teasers to go out at certain times especially to his Afrikaans fans.

 

The result: he was number one on iTunes (Afrikaans and South African) his song made it to number one on almost all radio stations in South Africa and his social media fans increased from 37 412 to 66 145 (Facebook) in just three months. The tweets and Facebook posts I wrote and sent out about the new album (the campaign) was published in Huisgenoot and You Magazine.

 

Video Reporter: South African Press Association
2 January 2013 – 14 August 2013 (contracted – 6 months)

 

This was a highlight of my career and where I made my name in the digital industry. I was the sole Sapa Video Reporter in the courtroom during the Oscar Pistorius trail / bail hearing (17 February – 22 February 2013). We were able to introduce this newly formed video news wire service to internal news clients like CNN, BBC, Reuters, ENCA, Carte Blanche, ABC, EWN and AFP curating it for digital selling using digital marketing initiatives and digital advertising.

 

Our main focus was to use social media channels like YouTube and Facebook to distribute our news segments to our client’s advertising the content on social media and the Google Ads Network.

 

Working as a video reporter I gathered, shot, edit, wrote, produced, and presented news in a clear and concise way. I wrote active news copy and engage the viewer in compelling live shots, including setting up interviews, determining where a segment is to be shot and selecting the shots to be used. I compiled data from various sources, investigated, analysed and edited the various news segment of the day.

At Flight Centre Travel Group I manage social media marketing campaigns and day-to-day activities for Flight Centre, Student Flights, Cruiseabout and Flight Centre Associates.

 

While social marketing and advertising are an integral part of our strategy, at its heart, social media is about people, conversations and capturing leads and sales from those relationships - and that's where I come in!
